Eden Brook Community Project
The
" Blanketeers"

September 11th, 2013 The Red Hat’s From Eden launched the Blanket Project. Over 1 dozen ladies met at the Clubhouse to Tie and crochet blankets to donate. 12 blankets were completed that day! What fun we had! So we decided to make this an ongoing community project. We met in October and November.

We decided to donate locally, so Project Linus is the perfect vehicle. This organization is aware of the needs of the community. Our first donation of 22 blankets went to the Lighthouse Shelter in Annapolis on October 1st. Our 2nd donation of 12 blankets on November 7 went to Sarah’s House.

We donated over 2 dozen blankets in December.

So we are called the Blanketeers! Over 20 ladies are taking part. Anyone can be involved in this worthwhile project. We can help you get started. The fleece blankets are either tied or crocheted. Just purchase your fleece and show up at our next get together. Information is posted in your building or call one of the coordinators.

In 2014, we will meet the 2nd Wednesday every month, 11 am at the clubhouse. Whatever months you can take part will be great! If you don’t have the time but want to help, donate some fleece and our blanketeers will see that the blankets are completed.

So in less than 1 year our mighty group has completed over 100 blankets and many are in the works! Isn’t it a fun way to give something back to the community?

To celebrate the delivery of over 100 blankets we all went to lunch! …..and then to Jo Ann Fabrics to purchase fleece. We need to get started on creating the next Hundred!

Our next day to meet at the Eden Brook clubhouse is Wednesday, August 13th, 11am

Bring your fleece to cut, finished blankets and blankets to work on.

Our get together on Wednesday, September 10th (11am at the clubhouse in Eden Brook) is our first anniversary of becoming blanketeers for Project Linus.

Linda Gorman ( The coordinator for Project Linus for Anne Arundel County) will be there. She will explain Project Linus and share information about where our blankets are donated. I asked her to share letters from recipients. She asked if we minded her joining in cutting & tying. Sounds like fun. We will have a light lunch. Kathy
